Match report
Following last weeks comprehensive victory over Halstead the winbus was back at home to face strugglers Mistley, having narrowly overcome them earlier in the year. One change saw ET go home to the firsts and Ironfist hand a second XI debut to young starlet Jack Mexome. With the sun shining down Teeth Thomas began the warm up with both East brothers taking shade/getting changed which allowed the youngsters to win the warm up game for the first time ever. Ironfist won an important toss and Flopdock were to bat.

With an abundance of batting and on the back of an impressive display Ironfist had some difficult decisions to make. Run Machine Storey started off with Reuben and made steady if unspectacular progress in the first ten overs in the face of some disciplined bowling from Rudkin in particular. Reuben perished looking to press on for 30, unable to deliver the big score that has eluded him recently and Run Machine was joined by young Jack. With Run Machine well set, Jack looked to attack and was soon smashing the bowlers all over the place. Old man Stockton in particular took a pounding as Jack raced to 50 and beyond. By the second drinks break the rate was up to five an over and after some brutal boundaries Jack eventually fell for 82, short of what would have been a brilliant debut century. Nose and Kaarl continued the progress and as the rate went up further Nose and Kaarl both perished as did Hugh for his customary low score which included multiple scoop attempts. Some late hitting from Mlambo meant it was left to Harry to sneak a single off the last ball to avoid a duck bat contribution and Copdock had amassed an impressive 280 off their 45 overs.

Talk over tea was that the first part of the job was done well and a solid second half should see us over the line. Things got off to a good start. After Thomas spilled one behind the sticks Jenko snaffled a one handed worldy running backwards over his head at midwicket to rid Mistley of Branscombe who'd score a marvellous hundred in the return fixture. Soon Stockton was also trudging back to the shed have scored less runs than clubs he has played for after he edged the impressive Bailey through to the dustbin lids of Thomas. East the Older soon picked up another one before Ironfist turned to spin twins East the Younger and Jenko. However the excellent named Scott-Lyons were soon knocking them around in an agricultural style that belied their upbringing. Helped by Symbols Thomas behind the sticks as much as some slightly under par bowling Mistley began the rebuilding and soon Ironfist turned to Mlambo, East the Ugly and Harry Bailey to make further breakthroughs. In the end Mistley fell well short and Flopdock ran out comfortable winners. Some excellent bowling by Harry and some good fielding by everyone, even Reuben, supported a great batting effort and led to a healthy victory and a return to the top of the league. The winbus rolls into the wiles of Tuddenham next week, hoping to get one stop closer to Trongs and the moths out of Ironfist's wallet.

Sombrero - Jack 'Mexus Pete' Mexome
