Match report
Copdock 2nd's welcomed both the sunshine and local rivals IES, who made the short trip from dog poo park to the Oval this week. A strong looking seconds side saw Nel and Rice return for this table topping affair and all eyes quickly turned to Gunders and the toss. As the sun was beating down on the pitch and players as they went through their paces Ironfist won the toss. Much to the chagrin of gnarled old pro's Wooton and East, Ironfist elected to field, no feet up with a cup of tea.

IES started well, Glassford in particular got into his stride quickly and found the boundary regularly in the first ten overs. Soon Gunders changed the pace. With normal partner in crime Jenko having been plucked into the firsts, the dream duo this week was East and Sumo Nel. Nel made the first break through as Wooton caught well behind the stumps. East followed up with the wickets of Glassford and Debenham. Debenham had already had two lives, one from Reubs reminiscent of the spinning effort at Yoxford last year and one through the hands of Hopkins, who appears to have decided that if they won't catch them off him then neither will he.

The run rate began to get dragged back, despite some lusty blowing from Sproats and the returning Hugo Douglas also picked up the wicket of Bloomfield. Lander fell cheaply thanks to a direct hit from the swooping Reg Hollis and soon Sproats was also dismissed as East picked up his third wicket when looking to provide some late innings fireworks. The wickets fell at regular intervals, Hugo finishing well, making it difficult for IES to really attack in the last five overs. At tea Flopdock chatter was that on a decent wicket 193 was a gettable total and the strong batting line up meant that the teams confidence was like a Gauke tea plate, packed full.

Nel and Reuben were the first to begin the Copdock assault on 193. Both had lives as routine slip chances were put down in the first two overs. Unfortunately Nelly was unable to capitalise, spooning into the air in the next. Reuben however was soon driving, pulling and cutting with supreme timing and skill. In next to no time he had raced through to record a breath taking 50. Even the introduction of left arm spin was unable to halt his progress. At 65 however Reuben threw away his hard work with a mindless hack. As often happens in cricket, particularly in a Flopdock innings, one brings two as Ricey left his first ball and shortly afterwards 80 for 1 in 13 overs became 83 for 4 in 20 overs. From a position of strength, suddenly the game was in danger of slipping away. Reg Hollis and Hodge needed to rebuild and get things back on an even keel. Both played watchfully though still scoring where opportunites presented themselves but the left arm spinner was now in a good groove and from this end at least scoring was difficult on an increasingly receptive pitch.

To their credit Reg and Hodge fought hard and managed to swing things back into our favour. With 60 needed off 11 overs and still 6 wickets left IES turned to Lander. His last few batting experiences at the Oval haven't got his way but he was about to make an impact with the ball. First a spectacular catch removed Reg, then a sharp caught and bowled got rid of Hodge who looked to be taking Copdock over the line with a great 50. In the interim Sexbomb had hit one up in the air, and soon Gunders and East were also marching back to the hutch with Copdock ultimately loosing a game that was there for the taking. A similar experience to Coggy, we'd managed to get ourselves in good positions but were unable to see them through.

Tommy Cooper Blooper - Reuben, dismissal
Brian Lara Tiara - Reuben, 4 consecutive boundaries flayed to different parts of the ground
