Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 1st XI v Burwell on Sat 12 May 2012 at 11am
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 10 wickets

Match report **** Missing Parts ADDED ******

Burwell travelled to the Old London road fortress on Saturday to take on the Prem newcomers this weekend.

Copdock we missing Dibbo ( Pound for Pound the weakest man in Ipswich ) after he tweaked his back shaking out the last few Cornflakes from the box on Saturday morning. In came Sharpe, after the normal Friday night fracas.

A huge mention must go to Shorts and the team for the quite incredible work they put in to get the game on. Under water on Thursday and puddles on Friday morning... We ended up with a 12 start and an amazingly good looking track, which also played perfectly.

Jenko did his knee in the warm up, after the old’uns won again, with another late Eek winner.

Pidge won the toss and unsurprisingly Copdock would bowl.

As has happened so far this year the opening bowlers put pressure on the Burwell batsmen and kept things tight. Nose took a couple of early ones, the first with an excellent Kinga catch standing up and the second with the “ Huggins Ball “. Christi got in on the act too and 14-3 was the early score.

Burwell got through to lunch at 45-4, a slight recovery but it could have been worst as Jed and Christi made a mess of a sitter last ball.

After an exceedingly good lunch of bangers and mash, there was a fighting stand of 40 from the Burwell batsmen. They played a few shots and looked like getting a foothold. Eek and Pidge then went to work and they imploded to 103 all out. Pidge finished with 4 and Eek three. The side, led by Kinga and Ricey worked hard and well in the field and made Copdock look all the more a Premiere league outfit. A most impressive performance from Start, through the warm up, via the bowling and fielding ... hopefully the batting would keep this going.

Nelly and Archie opened up and made a mockery of 103 as a total. Nelly stole the strike at every opportunity and made it look as though he was comfortably outscoring Archie... In fact Archie scored at a run a ball... and Nelly was well behind with a strike rate of 91.79 per hundred balls. Archie also hit a six ( bit top edge-ish, but he’ll take it ).

The runs were chased in 20 overs, with no wickets falling..

Another excellent win....

***** A special mention must go to The simply Odd behavour of the Pro afterwards in the changing room... Forcing people to remove shoes and socks and standing in the middle of the room ( apart from sharpey ) and forcing them to listen to their entire charactor being demolished in silence.

Normally I'm completely up for this, but the signing ruined it for me...Also, having heard about Archie pooing on people from a church balcony....Dear God!

Dibbo has also asked each of us to spend a quiet moment, at some point this week, when you can to just reflect on what he's lost. I didn't see the incident myself, but I did see the end result.... a dead water bottle.

The future’s Bright, the future’s Copdock!
