Match report After last weeks debacle the 2nd XI went into this weeks game believing things could only get better... They didn't, they got much worse!!

Having lost the toss Copdock were inserted on a slightly damp but perfectly decent pitch. 10 overs later we were 11 for 8...!! Much credit must go to the Maldon opening bowlers. They bowled in good areas, swung the ball all over the place and took full advantage of conditions. However, the Copdock batting was simply absymal - 7 players scoring 0...

Clearly a total of 58 was never going to be enough. However, the Maldon bowlers had got the ball to swing throughout our innings and with Steve "The King of Swing" Catchpole to open the bowling for Copdock we hoped to at least give them a bit of a scare - as it turned out Steve could not get the ball off straight!!

It was left to the experienced Underwood to at least earn Copdock a couple of points. He produced an excellent spell of 12 overs 4 for 19, and was well supported by James Druitt. We actually bowled and fielded pretty well, but the game was lost in the 1st hour of the match...

So, Exning at home next week. We need to get better - and fast!!
