Sam Athurton appointed Copdock & OI CC Cricket Professional

14 Oct 2021

The club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ex-Essex CCC player & current Norfolk CCC Captain Sam Arthurton as Cricket Professional from 1st of January 2022. Sam's appointment reflects the clubs continued commitment to improve all that it does. The club looks forward to the impact Sam will have not only in strengthening our EAPL side, but also in the player pathway of supporting our best young talent through the age groups and into adult cricket. In addition, Sam will also work part time at Ipswich School as we look to strengthen our ongoing partnership with this outstanding institution.

On his appointment as Cricket Professional, Sam added, "This is an exciting new stage of my career and one I'm looking forward to getting started in January. I hope my coaching & playing experiences over the years can help make an impact to the club both on & off field."

Club Chairman Nick Meakin had the following to say on the appointment of Sam, " As a club we pride ourselves on developing young cricketers of all abilities and it is great to have a player and coach with Sam’s abilities join our coaching team to support their transition into adult cricket at the appropriate level, and also to play alongside the more talented individuals to teach them the game craft required to succeed at the highest level. This is a hugely exciting appointment for the club."
