Match report In truth Copdock & Oi’s don’t travel well to Boxted. It has been the scene of some pretty woeful fielding displays not to mention the Niel Hames incident. However we took a good side and noticed on arrival the absence of a couple of Boxted’s key players. We fielded first and Banham was called in to field at slip. His boyish glee at the thought of doing very little was cut short as young Ethan Wright steamed in from the top end. He bowled with pace and aggression a welcome sight in Div 4 cricket. Banham retreated and at fine leg I giggled as the threat of the ball whizzing toward Banham’s cold hands was ever threatening. We slowly dismantled the Boxted batting cortège. There was some good bowling, fielding and catching. These efforts were marred however by some typical 2nd XI catching bloopers and we allowed them to unbelievably to accumulate189. However we were on for 20 points as Wright took 5 for 46 and cleared up the Boxted tale. Well done Ethan, an excellent start to what I’m sure will be a useful senior career (at Copdock & Oi’s I hope!!!!!).

As we went out to bat Shorten began his afternoon snooze in the pavilion. And so he might with all the excellent hard work he is putting in to the Copdock square. He missed Thomas play a wonderful hard hitting and elegant innings for 64. Thomas infact set the innings up for us all and with some useful support form H Gravell, Shorten (when he awoke) and again Wootten. We crossed the line grabbing all 20 points beating them by 4 wkts.
