Match report This years campaign commenced without Banham (and his stone), Taylor, Underwood, Catchpole and Prentice and oddly enough we were successful.

Unfortunately someone once said that our illustrious captain/chairman just played his mates and those who could hose down 10 pints on a Saturday night. Whilst these (in my opinion) are trustworthy virtues of a village cricket team, one person in particular didn’t. So whilst we endeavoured to exploit our army of youth and agility at Div 4 standard we were disappointed as yet again there were no signs of those 16yr olds gagging for a game. Instead Gravell (Snr) and Jamie (I won’t be poached) Smith opened the bowling and did very well. But not before a good batting display allowed us to take to the field under no real pressure. A good solid performance all round with the bat saw us reach 217 for 7. Gauke hit a confidence boosting 38, Cuff wasn’t really at the races and Baker did the basics well. I think Wootten is about to blossom as a batsmen. Whilst generally hopeless behind the wood, he is showing maturity with the willow and I think this could be his year! On a different note, I think this year Druitt will finally snap as he chucks down another half volley and punch someone on the nose – probably me as I giggle at mid wicket.
