Match report

On another hot evening, the Cardinals travelled to Felixstowe, The Cardinals skipper Lucas Howard won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The Cardinals bowled and fielded really well throughout, and did so well that they bowled Felixstowe out for just 54 in the 14th over and the bowling was very accurate, and it was so good to watch and see the players developing so well, and very pleasing was that we took 5 wickets clean bowled, plus two run outs, one wicket caught behind, and two caught, one at square leg, and one at mid on, and even more pleasing too, was that the Cardinals didn’t bowl any wides throughout the Felixstowe innings, so well done to all 6 bowlers.

The innings started with Shaanjeai Tharaneetharan setting the tone and bowling his 3 overs for just 4 runs and he took 3 wickets too, clean bowling a batsmen in each of his 3 overs.

Aashay Deole bowled well too from the other end, picking up 1 wicket and going for 17 runs in his 3 overs.

Then Henry Clarke bowled 2 overs for 15 runs, and took 1 wicket and skipper Lucas bowled his 3 overs well for just 12 runs and 0 wickets. Then Algie Anderson bowled 2 really good overs, and took 2 wickets for just 1 run and then in Issac Humberstone’s 1st over, he took the final wicket of the innings, with a ball that nipped off the seam, took the edge and was well caught by wicket keeper Jevon Maynard, who kept wicket well throughout, there was also two good run outs, one from Shaanjeai’s throw to skipper Lucas, who took off the bails, and then from Algie’s throw from the boundary, into keeper Jevon, who took off the bails, as the batsmen attempted a second run.

When the Cardinals batted, they opened with Louis Cannon and Xander Neame, Louis was first out, caught for 6, skipper Lucas was very unlucky to be given out runout for 0 and then Connor Holdcroft was caught for 1, then Xander and Shaanjeai put on a 4th wicket partnership that took the Cardinals close to the required score, before Xander was run out for 14, Shaanjeai finished 15 not out and Jevon 1 not out and the Cardinals reached their target in the 8th over, finishing on 57-4 and wining the game by 6 wickets.

A special thank you to Louis and Oliver's dad Peter, for scoring again for us, and well done also to Oliver Cannon, who didn’t get a bat, or bowl, on the night, but fielded well and was an important part of the winning team.

So well done to all the lads, a really good and professional win, from a young, skilful and progressing group of lads.

Man of the match goes to Shaanjeai for his excellent bowling and batting, plus a catch and run out too, which all capped off a really good individual performance, but was also well backed up by all of the other ten lads too.

The Cardinals finish their league games this season unbeaten, so well done to all that have played in this unbeaten run.
