Match report Suffolk Cup Final

Many thanks to all the parents who helped and also supported us. A thoroughly enjoyable evening saw a great "TEAM" effort ending in a glorious hard earned victory.

Captain Stace won the toss and elected to field. The pitch looked great and luckily hadn't been affected by the heavy localised showers earlier in the day. The boundaries were set deep and everything was set for an epic encounter.

Opening batsmen Bevan and Packer started well and posted 30 off the first 5 overs. The bowlers kept rotating and the wickets slowly began to fall and the run rate drop. Everyone played their part and bowled with skill and purpose. However, it was the introduction of Kajeai that really made the difference. With keeper Norman standing up and dot ball pressure Kajeai bowled one of his best spells ever returning figures of 4 - 0 - 14 - 4. Outstanding bowling from someone so young backed up by impressive spells from Stace and Millions, plus some great ground fielding (including 2 run outs). Woolpit finished on 89 after their 20 overs.

Copdock opening batsmen Plant and Froggatt started off nicely and suddenly the relatively low total was very much in sight. However, the introduction of Bevan into the attack saw Froggatt bowled shortly followed by Stace and things started to turn in favour of our opponents. Dillon Hatcher was then caught for 10 and a crazy run out saw Norman back in the pavilion. 10 runs were needed off 12 balls when Lewis Millions arrived at the crease. A 2 followed by a 4 off his legs relieved the pressure and the remaining few were knocked off in no time. Sensible batting by Archie Plant saw him finish on 40 and Copdock won the Cup. Very well done boys you showed great character and a desire to win even under pressure.
