Match report Bardwell won the toss and opted to bat, to the surprise of Copdock Development Ladies. Bardwell got off to a rapid start putting on 5 runs in the first over. Zinnia Smart opened the bowling for Copdock and Katie opening from the other end. Within the second over the girls had already taken their first wicket due to a run out. By the tenth over Copdock had managed to keep Bardwell to a mere 38 runs. Copdock decided to slow the pace of the ball, and Emma Jay came on to bowl, forcing the batsman to wait for the ball. Holly Cook got a fair amount of bounce off of the wicket, and with Hannah Chapple bowling from the other end accurately the pair put the pressure back onto Bardwell. Bardwell finished their innings on a high score of 92.
Zinnia -0-19 runs off of 4/ Katie- 1-18 runs off of 4/ Emma- 0-22 runs off of 4/ Holly- 1-8 runs off of 4/ Hannah- 0-23 runs off of 4.
Holly Mayhew and Katie Dixon headed out to the crease, unfortunately it wasn’t long before Katie was given out after being run out. Zinnia Smart joined Holly and the pair looked comfortable for a few overs until Zinnia was bowled out for 5 runs. Bardwell rattled through the entire middle order batsman; however Beth Quinton secured herself at the crease. Both Holly and Beth were under pressure to reach the score of 92 that Bardwell had set. Holly eventually gave in to fatigue and was bowled out for 19 runs. Hannah Chapple and Beth looked very comfortable out at the crease, and due to good communication between them, the pair saw Copdock Development Ladies over the finishing line and started the season with a tremendous win. Hannah finishing on 5 runs not out and Beth finishing on 20 runs not out.
