Hadleigh U13 v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Under 13 Crusaders on Thu 26 May 2016 at 6pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won By 1 Wicket

Match report On a sunny evening at Hadleigh, the Crusaders had to play this league game
with only 9 players, due to two players not turning up. Hadlieigh won the
toss and decided to bat.

The Hadliegh openers both batted steadily, against some accurate opening
bowling, from both Ben and Charlie Tweedy and this trend continued when
Cameron Towers and Henry Williams came on to bowl as well. Then the
introduction of the fifth bowler George Quinton, then started to turn the
game strongly the Crusaders way, as he bowled his 4 overs very well and took
3 for 11, with the all weather service helping him with both bounce and
spine, but his overall accuracy was the most important thing, with all 3 of
his victims being bowled, then the return of Charlie Tweedy say him pick up
a wicket as well leaving Hadleigh at 55-4 after 16 and then in the last four
overs two wickets for Ben Tweedy and one wicket for Towers, say the
Crusaders restrict Hadleigh to 75-7 at the end of the 20 overs. So good
bowling from all five bowlers, with no bowler going for more the 19 runs in
each of their 4 overs, there was also some good wicket keeping from Rocco
Hembry and some good ground fielding by Max Dawson and both Charlie and Ben
Tweedy as well and also two very good catches from Charlie Tweedy.

The Crusaders then struggled at the beginning of their batting innings,
finding themselves 8-4, after the first 6 overs, with Rocco Hembry out for 1
and Seb Hembry, Dawson and Jed Copper all getting out for 0. There was then
a slight recovery, before Towers was given out LBW, leaving the Crusaders at
26-5, but then a good partnership between Charlie Tweedy and Williams saw
the score past 50, before Williams was then run out for 10. Tweedy then went
on to retire for 30 and then Quinton was given out LBW for 0, this left the
score at 60 for 7 when Charlie Tweedy returned to join his brother Ben and
the brothers held their nerves to see the team across the line, with two
overs to spare, finishing at 76-7 with Charlie 33 not out and Ben 7 not out.

A special thank you must also go to Hadleigh Cricket club, who allowed us to
use two of their under 11's players, to field for us, so that at least we
had 11 players when we fielded, and also a thank you to them for supplying
two umpires when we were batting, so that I could coach and talk to the lads
while they were waiting to go into to bat.

So overall a very good win and very pleasing to see nine very happy faces at
the end of the game. So well done to all 9 lads for their efforts, in a very
tight and tense game and a special well done to Charlie Tweedy for his man
of the match performance, for his good captaincy, as well as his good
bowling and fielding and also for his very good batting.
