Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Copdock Ladies EAPL v Felixstowe on Tue 21 Jun 2016 at 18.00
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won

Match report Ladies Cricket at its best!
After a bagging a brace of convincing wins at the weekend the Copdock Ladies arrived (just) on a perfect summers evening. An evening which belied the weather from the previous day, with the only giveaway being the multitude of covers piled up in the distance.
Table topping opponents Felixstowe rocked up in a buoyant mood, won the toss and decided to bowl, with Olivia (Dave) Locke wanting to bat on an excellent wicket this was the perfect chance for her side to post a big score and that is what they did!
The usual opening pair of Locke and Kelly took the game to Felixstowe from the off, hitting and running hard and when Kelly was run out doing so, this brought the weekend’s top scorer to the crease. Georgia Davis batted aggressively dismissing any wayward deliveries with power and precision, coupled with Oliva’s fast hand stroke play the run rate rocketed. Shortly after drinks the introduction of Emma Jones’s leg spin immediately accounted for Locke, leg before.
Bec Wilson joined Georgia at the wicket with the power hitting showing no sign of abating, both girls clearing the ropes and piercing the gaps, Georgia finally played one shot to many and was bowled on 54, Mai Easton fell cheaply before Tash joined her sister at the crease, the Wilsons took the Copdock total to an intimidating 179-4. An impressive score given the quality of Felixstowe’s fielding.
With Annis Cousins missing from the XI, Bec Wilson stepped up to open the bowling with Beth Quinton, Beth struck first (somewhat appropriately on national giraffe day), dismissing Livingstone with a dipping Yorker and could have had two but Kelly spilled a tough chance in the deep. Next over Ellis cracked a quick and full delivery off her legs which looked like a certain four until Kelly, running in from the boundary took a stunning catch low and in front of her. The pace attack continued to turn the screw with Felixstowe falling further and further behind the run rate, the introduction of Davis and Kelly continued to apply the pressure with Kelly removing opener Norman caught and bowled for only 10. With Felixstowe still 140 runs behind at the drinks break the result was a formality, following the run out of Jones, Easton and Mayhew weighed in with wickets and the visitors were left 94 runs short on 86-6. The game had made the most of the longest day of the year as the teams enjoyed the feast supplied by Martin and Jackie.
A good sized crowd enjoyed what was a fantastic advert for the ladies game and the efforts being made at both clubs, thanks to all the usual hard work with setting up, packing up, umpiring and scoring. Particular thanks to Martin Taylor for getting the game on between monsoons. Mistley away on Sunday morning provide the next test for our bright young side
