Match report
For the third consecutive week first played second in a top of the table clash in Div 3. With Flopdock having dispatched the previous pretenders Ironfist had selected another strong looking unit for the visit of Sudbury. Fresh from a mechanical nightmare in Devon gnarled old pro East JR returned along with young starlet Sam Webb Snowling as Gravell and Jazz Mexome made way. With East Snr suffering from a poorly played raincard the young 'uns would have been confident of victory in the pre warm up football, indeed most were pleased to start so that Hugh could stop talking them through chapter and verse of his match winning knock from last week. Only East Snr recounting 'El Bandito's' victory in the golf day was received less well. SWS was under no illusions of what was to come, sticking the pads on as Long Nose prowled around the old 'uns back line. After two well worked moves East JR had put the old uns too far ahead. Even a traitorous save from Max (who'd replaced the hapless Sharpe between the sticks) to deny East JR a hatrick wasn't enough to stop another old uns victory, courtesy of a wonderful Wonderboy finish.

As Sudbury rolled up with some familiar old faces Ironfist, predictably, lost the toss. Perhaps less predictably Sudbury elected to bowl on a used track. Reuben and SWS opened up. Predictably Sharpe was soon trudging back after being bounced out for 11. Kaarl then failed for the second week on the trot courtesy of a generous LBW and when Thomas fell shortly after to a more straight forward decision Flopdock needed a partnership. Thankfully SWS was in searing form. Smiting the Sudbury bowling to all parts. Some sintilating strokeplay saw Snorkel smashing Sudbury all over the place. As Nose clothed it at the other end SWS simply took the bowling apart finding the boundary with ease. Eventually East was put out of his misery for 22 and Mlambo fell in the pursuit of quick runs. Snorks was eventually dismissed for 127 Flopdock were well placed for a formidable total. Perhaps tricked by the ease with which SWS had approached his knock the lower order falter some what and when East JR fell to the last ball of the 44th over Flopdock were all out for 220 and had given up an over.

Talk over tea was that the carrot cake was good and 220 was about par. A rousing speech from Ironfist and a reminder that Trongs was still on was enough to see Harry Bailey have a bounce in his step as he charged into the wind. Harry bowled with control, a good line and decent pace to pose problems again for the Sudbury openers and was unfortunate to only pick up the two wickets. Nose, who at times looked like a ships mast/sail as the wind blew him to the crease, perhaps more fortunate to claim two more scalps and Sudbury looked in trouble. Some brief respite for Sudbury came in the form of Witham, who ploughed East JR in particular for some maximums, one courtesy of a Sharpe misjudgement at long off. By the time East eventually did for Witham the game was well and truly up, with Jenkin offering up the sugar lumps at the other end. Sudbury ultimately limped to 127, equalling SWS lone score as they were well beaten.

Ironfist could reflect after on a good performance, the fielding led by the impressive SWS behind the sticks was largely excellent, Kaaarl Drohgo also covering a lot of ground in the outfield. Other results could see another 1st vs 2nd encounter for the seconds next week too as they close in on the prospect of bankrupting the Fist at Trongs.

Sombrero - SWS obvs.

Jazz Hat - On the basis that Ironfist is getting the blooper, Kaarls jazz fielding.

Blooper - For an outrageous comedy dismissal where he hit the ball for four but the bails for 2, its Ironfist.
