Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Brightlingsea on Mon 30 May 2016 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 24 runs

Match report The Win Bus hadn't moved since Saturday but the delight of playing on a bank holiday Monday meant a changed team had the opportunity to put things right quickly. Thomas, Gravell, Jenkin returned from different adventures and featured in a strong looking team.

Ironfist won a toss whilst Reubs was having another nightmare in goal and in overcast conditions elected to bat. A decent opening attack was soon making inroads into the Flopdock team. Gravell sent packing missing one that nipped between bat and pad before Reubs quickly followed and Nose scooped to cover. As the wickets fell thoughts turned to tea and the realisation that there wasn't one. Ironfist was soon on his way to Tesco's or at least the bottom of the old A12, to sort it out but soon had to hot foot it back as Chokedock flopped to 67 for 5. Thankfully Kaarl and Jenko were able to start the rebuilding. Eventually Jenko hit his stride tucking into the attack, hitting boundaries on both sides of the wicket continuing on as Kaarl and Sexy went back to the pavilion. Eventually he fell as 200 and the end of the innings loomed, leaving just enough time for Eek to maintain his 100% strike rate for the season. The final total of 194 looked a few short of par but defendable with an improved effort in the field.

Ironfists tea went down a storm, even the French bread that had been buttered using bananas and the mountain of ham. Polishing off his 4th doughnut Hugh was unable to convince Ironfist to bowl with the galeforce wind but as we went out to field we were confident we had enough for a much needed victory. Nose and Hugh started beautifully keeping things tight and bowling with accuracy and menance. With more luck both could have picked up multiple wickets but nevertheless as spin twins East and Jenkin took over the required rate was (as Teeth mentioned) nearly a run a ball. Eventually the inevitable happened, the wickets fell with some aggressive batting and we started dropping catches. Reuben, having fielded brilliantly for 25 overs, had a couple of howlers but certainly wasn't alone in this regard. Thankfully it was too late to effect the outcome and in the final over Eek picked up his sixth of the day and tenth of the weekend with a very adjacent LBW.

A much need victory. The Win Bus rolls out to League leaders Sudbury next weekend in a top of the table clash.

Carl Hooper Blooper - Reubs. Enough said.
Sachin Sombrero - Jenko. Got us to a defendable total with a great knock.
