Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 2nd XI v Kelvedon & Feering on Sat 28 May 2016 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost by 24 runs

Match report The 'Win Bus' tottered back to the Oval after its breakdown at Coggy with some changes. Making his debut was Donald Mlambo, Bhatt man returned too whilst Gravell galavanted and Thomas continued his Fat Ian Poulter impression making them unavailable. Having batted and shortened the game last week Ironfist ensured that in the blazing sunshine Flopdock fielded for the full 45 overs in punishment for last weeks pathetic fielding display.

Sadly there was more to come. A young and enthusiastic Kelvedon got of to a solid start capitalising on anything loose from Nose and Ashwin and when a mistake was coaxed out the chance either couldn't be taken or the umpire saw something different to the rest of us. Obviously Nose was quick to point this out to the officials in his usual quiet, polite manner. Eventually Ashwin was replaced by Eek and some wickets tumbled but crucially so did some catches. As Nose bowled out the batsmen were getting set and Donald was attacked. When he was replaced by Sexton, Kelvedon were in a position to push on with wickets in hand. The batters put pressure on the fielding and were unfortunately able to turn ones in twos and soon the scoreboard was rattling along. Late wickets for East and death specialist Sexton failed to stem the flow and eventually the innings drew to a halt with 237 for 8 on the board.

Over a tea of suspect 'posh' sandwiches 237 looked a tough, but not impossible ask. Things didn't get off to a great start. Fergus fell for 0, putting him joint top with Nose and Cuff for the duck bat, before Reuben fell after getting in for 26. Nose also didn't last long and it was left to Donald and Kaarl to rebuild. As they built a partnership the rate began to creep up and as he looked to increase tempo Kaarl was dismissed to be replaced by 'Wonder Boy' Reg Hollis. With 11 overs to go things looked hopeless with 110 required. Some big hitting by the Chilean International and some strong stroke play from Donald got things back to a more manageable 54 needed off 6 overs and suddenly Kelvedon looked worried. However when Wonderboy dragged on and Donald was run out things died out and even East's 100% season strike rate couldn't get Flopdock home.

A defeat very much of our own making. Little to feel good about aside from a promising fielding display and batting effort from Donald. Someone call RAC. The Win Bus needs a service.

We didn't vote but I'm giving the awards as below:

Carl Hooper Blooper : Kaarl dropped White Helmet man, nearly died in the process.
Sachin Sombrero: Donald. Great debut, excellent run out
