Match report Well the First team went to the beach this weekend! Davey came in flip flops and it was blo*dy freezing, luckily he came prepared and had a back up pair of trainers. The start was delayed and this gave the side the perfect chance to play some quality changing room cricket. Jervis as usual was the star, with both bat and ball. He actually didn’t have to change hands to turn the ball the other way, he’s clearly spent more time pre-season developing a doosra rather than working on his batting! Gravell was poor and Deon a complete non-starter.

The actual game got under way as a reduced match to 45 overs, in cold damp conditions. Jenkin blazed away from the off a scored a rapid 25. In a trow back to the Sunday challenge days Copdock scored at 5 or 6 an over for the first few overs but lost wickets far too often. Archie was strangled down the leg side and then the Copdock power house of Jervis, Nel and Swallow combined to reached a score of 3 between the lot of them! As I walked out to bat I was actually thinking about Chris getting naught as he my fantasy captain…Barst*ard.

Nose batted pretty well and got 60-odd not out… but 3 poor LBW decisions robbed him of partners and Copdock finished on 134. More bad news for the fantasy league as Burch and Eek also got zeros.

In reply Frinton got off to the perfect start. Nose bowled poorly again and will need to work things out pretty quickly. Deon bowled good areas with no luck. Swallow bowled beautifully again and took 3-29 in his 15 allotted overs.

Frinton at 60-3 started to wobbled but without support for Swallow Frinton coasted home 4 down!

The league looks strange now this season with last years top 3 in the bottom 3 positions…. However, we can turn things around and need to get back the positive frame of mind we had at Sudbury….
