Scorecard

Sudbury v Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 03 May 2008 at 1pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 155 runs (incomplete scorecard)

Match report Well things started badly as Eek lost the toss. Copdock were inserted on a green seamer and things looked bad as Sudbury had Jon Kent back in the ranks this season. He had previously topped both the batting and bowling averages in division one. Well things started poorly as Jenko was out for bugger all and to be honest we expected nothing less… he’ll be lucky to keep his place. Archie Gravell batted superbly and was out having done all the hard work for 34. Jerv came and went for yet another of the best 10’s you will ever see…. He got done by a jaffer from Kent. Chris Swallow saw Kent off before a lapse of concentration saw the worst spinner in the world get him out trying to sweep a full toss. Rain man Nel came to the crease and smashed it everywhere for an excellent 60. Nose managed to clamber his way to 15 and having been incapacitated when hit by a spinner on the pad was stumped scared before Kent returned to the attack. Huge T came in at number 8 and smote Kent all around Sudbury and made a dazzling 45 in no time which enabled Flopdock to post 225. Special mention must go to Burch who had a strike rate of 100 in scoring his 1 not out. 225 was an excellent sore on a tricky pitch. Gravell was great early on and Thomas finished the innings on a real high… good work youngsters.

Copdock took to the field on a high. Deon looked as though he may well be a useful Bardo replacement in his first over, but it took Nose to strike first. Using all his pace, he hurried the opener into a half back, half forward prod and bowled him. Deon not being out done removed the real danger man Kent, caught and bowled for 5 and Copdock were on top, so much so that Eek let Jervis bowl and he remove the middle order with 3 for 11. Swallow nipped in with two wickets as Sudbury were bundled out for 70. Copdock fielded superbly, Jenko was great at backward point and may well be the new Adam Baker. Again special mention goes to Burch who was great behinds the stumps and Eek was great as he hid Ruben very well.

If things continue in this way Copdock may well avoid relegation.

The future’s bright, the future’s Copdock.
