Match report The Dragons started their league season welcomei9ng a young Mildenhall team featuring 5 u11 players in their team of 10.
Bowling first the opposition top 3 , two of which were u11's played very very well. It took a good catch down the leg side by Will off James to end a opening partnership of 29. we bowled well , but our fielding with the exception of Olly Mex, lacked any great passion or energy . Two missed chances off lewis somehow summed up our generous nature. A total of 88 in 20 overs represented decent bowling by us, average fielding and a good effort by the opposition young uns.
With the clouds building, and as we had taken for ever to bowl 20 overs from one end the light was not great when we batted, but this can hardly be used as an excuse from an opening 7 overs of poor batting from the home team which saw us slump to 34-5, and in danger of throwing the game away through a combination of poor decisions, technique and thinking with the bat.
Thankfully for us Dillon was holding up one end sensibly and was joined by Olly Mex with us at 49-6!!!.
These two then proceeded to show how it should be done with improved decision making about which ball to hit, determination and much improved running and calling. With light rain falling and the light terrible these two put on 40 to see us home in good style.
Thanks to Mildenhall for giving us a good game and a wake up call!!, to all those helped not least Michael, carl and Roz .
