Match report After Saturdays downpours the sun game out, and shone for the cup semi final between two good teams.

In the end a comfortable win for Copdock who produced arguably their best performance of the season, but the game was a great advert for u11 cricket, and Woolpit should be proud of their efforts and the spirit in which the game was played, if only more games could be like this.

The Woolpit skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first on a pitch that was firm , and had some pace and bounce in it. Will M and Charlie C gave us a decent start of 15 for the first pair, and Henry and Jim built on this with a unbeaten partnership, both showing god maturity. In the third pair William B batted as well as ever in his life, some of his shots were breathtaking, and with the skipper recovering his composure and playing some good shots our innings really accelerated. The final pair of Will f and Tom c then pushed us beyond 300, with Will playing some great shots , inc 2 big sixes, and Tom sensibly taking singles to get Will on strike. A final total of 312 was a good effort and showed a team growing up and making lots of good batting decisions against a team who to be fair bowled well.

In reply Tom C bowled 2 great overs which put Woolpit behind the rate, Henry and James kept up the pressure, but Woolpit third pair , notably Mason Bickers played superbly and for a while Copdock fell apart . We did however regain control in the final pairing with wickets for James and Henry ensuring a comfortable win and a place in the final versus Mildenhall date TBC
