Match report A long trip to Worlington was eventually worth it. An exciting game between two well matched teams that could have gone either way until the very last over.
Copdock won the toss and decided to bat hoping the large outfield would tire the six fielders of the opposition! (plus bowler and wicketkeeper!)
Our opening pair of Will Marston and Jim Evans gave us a great start scoring 22 from their four overs against some excellent bowling. The second pair of Henry and Charlie Coe struggled but still added two to the score. After 8 overs the score was 24. Then James Whittle and Will Bailey batted well to take the score to 43 after 12 overs. Final pairing of Will Froggat and the late arrival Charlie Hollis took the final score to 58. A good final effort. The boys then talked about the lost wickets and how the lost 25 runs could have given us a winning score….
When we took to the field it was with belief that this game was ours to win if we bowled and fielded well.

Worlington’ opening pair scored 22 to match our opening score and they were soon ahead with the second pair. By the end of the 12th over we had it all to do against their best pair. There followed a dramatic session with Charlie Coe bowling two maidens and James Whittle taking a stunning diving catch at mid-off from Toby Marston who was batting very well. This seemed to demoralise them and they somehow ended 8 runs short. We had pulled off a brilliant win.

Well done to all the lads and the parents for their support. Man of the match had to be James for the best catch of the season so far and at such a critical point. Had he not taken that we would have lost.

Final thoughts:- Perhaps we made it hard for ourselves by losing 5 wickets. We need to understand that if the ball is straight we do NOT try to hit it to square leg!!
Let us not dwell on that - we WON an exciting game. Well done!!
