Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Under 13 Dragons v Dads v Lads on Fri 23 May 2014 at 6pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Lost

Match report What a belter of a game at the Copdock Oval!

The U13's Captained by Tom Jermy lost the toss and were put into bat. Jacob Marston once again retired not out on 30. Tom Jermy was bowled by Dad for 11, whilst Daniel Leggett 14, Angus Edmond 15, Oliver Stace, Dillon Hatcher, Byron Evans and Tom Hammond all contributed with the bat to put on an admirable 130 off 25 overs.

The Dads run chase could have been stiffer had the Dads not fielded so well resticting the U13's to only 11 boundaries from 150 balls.

Chasing 131 to win the Dads got of to a slow start - after 10 overs they were 51 for 1, Jack Mexome retiring not out on 13 and young Jim Evans posting 19 from 25 balls before being stumped off the bowling of James Doig.

The Lads bowling attack particularly in the early overs was causing some consternation amongst the ranks of the Dads. Frankie Ramsey, Alex Evans-Lombe and Joe Clifford bowled really tightly conceding only 19 runs from their share of the over allocation.

Andy Mexome was the first Dad to fall to his son Oliver (stumped Marston) on 15. Chris Sparrow fell soon after bowled off his legs on 0 to Tom Jermy. Andy Leggett made it a hat-trick of Dads wickets to their respective boys bowled by Danial Leggett for 1. Carl Hatcher put up stiff resistance with a quickfire 20 (retired not out) from 13 balls.

31 to win from 8 overs. Should have been a cake walk, but the Lads put up stiff resistance with four slips, a gully and even a leg slip at one point...

Adrian Doig was bowled by the U13's 'ringer' Will Stace who also snaffled the wicket of Dad Richard three balls later... it was looking ominous for the dads. 20 to win from 6 overs with only the tail left wagging.

Dave Hammond was run out chasing a quick single before Ian Evans became the fifth Dad of the night to fall to his Lad - Caught at leg slip off Byron Evans for 4.

Dan Clifford and Lead Coach Paul Martin were the only remaining batsmen needing ten from 12 balls. Paul clipped two off his legs from his first ball nearly killing himself trying to get himself back to his crease in the process, which he followed up with a 4 through mid-wicket.

5 from 6 for victory.... James Doig bowling the final over

2 dot balls, a quick single from Dan Clifford followed by a stolen single off a bye brought Dan back on strike. 3 needed from 2. DOT BALL!! 3 from 1 - Dan hooks a full toss over DBSL to secure a 2 run victory for the Dads.

Despite the Dads win it goes without saying that the Lads have probably secured bragging rights for five lads taking their Old Man's wickets.
