Match report A very young looking team turned up at Mistley, four experienced adults and six junior players which on paper looked weak but capable of an upset. The toss was won by Mistley and on the first team road they decided to bat. Wickets were very hard to come by and Mistley were starting to build up a big score, however a change of pace from Kevin Banham, Jack Spinner and Fergus Atkins saw the scoreboard start to slow down. Mistley then went on to post a total of 224 for 5.Wickets from Atkins - 1, Cousins - 2 & Charlie Lewis 2 for 19 off nine overs.Jacob Marston one stumping and a catch behind the stumps.
Kevin Banham opened the batting with Suffolk U13 keeper Jacob Marston, Jacob got out caught behind after scoring a comfortable ten runs very quickly. Kevin Banham watched from the other end as wickets started to tumble rapidly, at this point it was time to open his shoulders and get some runs on the board and soon brought up his half century, however nine runs later he was cleaned bowled. Chris Sparrow 13 and Jack Sinner 18 not out kept the scoreboard ticking over for a few overs. David Cousins then chipped in with a quickfire 31 and was then run out, Charlie Lewis lasted just two balls and the game was finally over but just 52 runs short, could of been a different story if we have had ekeven players and another proper opening bowler.
All in all the young lads done the club proud as we were congratulated for playing the game in the spirit it should be. Its not the result its the taking part.
