Match report First XI Vs Horsford

After a near win on the road last week the Crusaders returned to London road this week to take on Horsford in the EAPL.

Horsford is always a tough game, with the current Norfolk captain Chris Brown in charge, they are always a well drilled and competitive side. Copdock welcomed Jaik Mickleburgh into the side for the first time this year and he was top draw from start to finish. Exactly what you would want from a man with first class experience.

Copdock won the toss on a murky morning and decided as normal to bowl first. The warm up was poor due to the rope debacle - this DOES need sorting out as we can't spend an hour putting this out each time it gets put away incorrectly.

As seems the norm at the moment ( luckily ) the seamers started well and picked up early wickets with captain James East taking the first 3. The Horsford pro then raced to 50 off only 40 balls and Tom Rash then pinned him LBW to slow the rate.

Both Spinners, Chris Swallow and Tom Jenkin then bowled with lovely control, Tom Jenkin bowled 10 overs for only 16 runs. Findley, after lunch, then decided to be far more aggressive and with some pretty clean hitting rocketed to 79 before becoming the last man out with the score on 222 from 60 overs. Chris Swallow finished with 4 -62.

This left Copdock 60 overs in reply to chase the score down for an impressive victory.

Chris and Jaik opened the batting and simply smashed it all round the Oval - Chris scored a rapid 59 and Jaik 79. Although Martyn Cull fell for a duck, Jed score freely again before being run out for 51. Tom Rash and Chris Warne then saw the boys home with plenty of time to spare.
