Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Sunday XI v Kelvedon & Feering on Sun 16 May 2010 at 1.00pm
Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club Won by 66 runs

Match report Following a convincing win over Kelvedon the PDQ side recorded its second consecutive win and sits proudly top of the Premier League table.

On an absolutely belting track Kelvedon won the toss and chose to field. The opening partnership of Harvey and Green got Copdock off to a good start before Jamie was unfortunately run out by an excellent piece of fielding.

This brought James East to the crease, and he and Scott immediately got on top off the Kelvedon bowling. Scott was severe on any loose deliveries and Nose found the gaps with ease. Without seeming to take any chances they scored at well over 6 per over and Copdock were cruising to a big total.

However, when they both fell in quick succession it looked as though Kelvedon might be able to get back into the game. If they held such ambitions Copdock's very own Mr Cricket soon slammed that door shut...

Having missed all of last season and the beginning of this through injury Martin "Soggy" Taylor strode to the crease for the first time in nearly 2 years. It was like he had never been away. Strike that, it was like he has spent the last 2 years working on his game!! He smashed it everywhere, ran hard and finished on a brilliant 69 not out. The only evidence that this was his comeback knock was the fact he quickly turned a worrying shade of beetroot, stiffened up remarkably quickly post innings, and as of 12pm the following day he has yet to reply to any emails - I fear he maybe unable to move...!!

Still, it was great to see Sogs back and his innings led Copdock to a massive 246. It was always going to be a big ask and the Kelvedon batsmen were never able to keep up with the run rate. They certainly had attacking ambitions but all the Copdock bowlers performed well and ultimately Kelvedon fell well short of their target. Gravell and Gauke both picked up 3 wickets, but it was the young un's bowling (Green and Hodgkinson) that was most encouraging. By the way, Nose dropped another sitter (I mean a real dolly..!)

Hugh Thomas should be back to the lead troops from now on and things are looking good for the PDQ team. The future's bright, the future's Sundays!!!
