Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club - Aims and Objectives

Project Aims and Objectives

Our Club has changed and grown enormously over the past 10 years. Whilst a great deal has been achieved to improve the playing and training facilities, the existing pavilion is generally viewed to be lagging behind. Our aim is for this project to result in a building appropriate for a club of our size and ambition. The new pavilion will play a major role in allowing the Club to continue to prosper for the next twenty years.

The building is owned by the Copdock and Washbrook Playing Field Charity and the Cricket Club has been represented on the management committee since 1952. Since then the building has gone through a number of iterations and the Club has always been a major driving force in all previous projects. This continues to be the case.

The current project “Eternity” is led by the Charity. In addition to securing their future, the goal of the charity is to provide a stimulating environment for those wishing to play sport. The Club benefits from a long term lease agreement with the Charity and have the clearest need for the new building. We are therefore playing a leading role in the project and it is us that have the capacity and capability to make it happen.

The Cricket Club’s desired outcomes for the project are:

  • To create a pavilion that supports our ambition of providing the best overall cricket environment in Suffolk.

  • To update the current changing rooms so they are for for purpose to meet player needs( completed jan 2016)

  • To increase the number of changing rooms from 2 to 4 to allow the building to be used for simultaneous multiple activities.

  • To create a better environment for the social element of the Club.

  • To create a much larger and better equipped kitchen to support the Club’s catering needs.

  • To improve the overall toilet provision, not least for the ladies.

  • To create an improved outside patio area

As part of all of the above is the need to create a cost and energy efficient building. Through the use of innovative design and modern technology we will ensure the ongoing costs of the new pavilion are minimised and equitable to both the Charity and the Club.
