WELCOME TO THE COPDOCK & OLD IPSWICHIAN CRICKET CLUB WEBSITE
TWO COUNTIES DIVISION ONE CHAMPIONS 2009....
Nestling beside the Old London Road, you will find Copdock and Old Ipswichian Cricket Club. Originally founded some 169 years ago, this unique institution has managed to transgress the plains of time from Victorian England to the new millenium.
Merged with Old Ipswichians in the 1990's the club has its roots in the villages of Copdock and Washbrook, but with the added strength of ongoing links and partnerships with the redoutable 'Ipswich School', and its members past, present and future.
The Club currently fields four senior mens teams, plus a thriving Ladies XI. The 1st XI were crowned Division One champions of the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Cricket Championship in 2009 and will be looking to replicate this success this season. The 2nd achieved promotion into Division Four in 2008, just missed out consecutive promotions in 2009, but will be looking to put this right in 2010. The 3rd XI won the Division C Championship in 2008, and it is this team that provides an invaluable player pathway from Junior to Senior cricket. In addition, we also run a team in the Premier Division of the PDQ Cars North Essex League. This competition provides a good standard of Sunday cricket, and ensures all our members have ample cricketing opportunities.
Our ladies team entered the Beaumont Seymour League for the first time in 2009, and will continue to compete in this competition in 2010. In addition, this season they have also entered a second "friendly" league and we are very quickly becoming recognised as a leading Club for ladies cricket.
A thriving, Clubmark accredited, junior section complete the playing front with over 150 youngsters aged nine to sixteen (boys and girls) competing at all levels with the wonderous enthusiasm of youth.
All this is set in the wonderful ground which now has facilities that are the envy of most in Suffolk cricket. A playing surface fit to stage regular minor counties cricket and a modern clubhouse set in the landscape of a village setting is a joy to behold.
